The Home Page

Once you've logged into my music staff, you are greeted with the home page. The home page gives you a quick overview of your music lessons. On the top left, we have hours practice this week, and also attendance in the last 90 days.

Underneath, we have recent notes provided by the teacher about recent practice and details thereof. The drop-down menu here can extend the history of practice notes.

To the right, we have your scheduled music lessons for the week. You can change the timeframe that you can view your scheduled lessons by click the arrow.

At the very bottom, we have the recent news from Music Academy Midlands. This is a great way to keep up to date with any performances and events.

Profile Settings: notifications

At the top right of the homepage you can access your profile settings. If you have allowed the student to provide their email and details to my music staff, you will see them in the student section of the profile settings.

These can be edited by clicking the pencil in the top right. If you provide a phone number, you can select the tick boxes so that the students will receive email and SMS reminders. The same can be done in the parents section of the profile settings. Click the pencil and Edit.

To access the contact information for Music Academy Midlands, go over to the left hand side and click contact info. Here we provide phone number and email addresses.

Using The Calendar To See Your Music Lessons

To see a more detailed view of your time-tabled music lessons, go to the left pane and select Calendar. The calendar shows you any upcoming music lessons.

On first opening - calendar defaults to showing you this month's lessons. This can be changed by clicking the drop-down menu. Calendar can also show a weekly and daily time table. My Music Staff calendar can also sync the music timetable with calendar apps on your phone. That is done using the sync button.

Lastly, if the student has multiple lessons, you can filter the calendar to view only the lessons you need to see. This is done using the search drop-down menu. You can filter by teacher and also by location.

Understanding The Repertoire

Repertoires are accessed in the left hand side pane. Repertoires are goals within the students learning.

Teachers assign these repertoire to students. For example, these goals could be pieces of music, music grades, or techniques. The assigned section of the page shows you what content is being worked on currently. once the repertoire is completed, your teacher will tick them off.

Repertoires are a great way for you to see what the students have been working on and also what they have completed so far. Repertoires can also be filtered using the three drop down menus to the right hand side.

What Are Online Resources

For the next part of the guide, we're going to take a quick look through the online resources page.

Online resources usually come in the form of files, PDF files or audio files that your teacher may upload to aid your music learning.

Once in the online resources page (selected on the left of the home page), the name of your teacher should show. Lesson attachments have been attached by the teacher for download. From here, you can go ahead and download any files that have been attached by simply clicking the name of the file.

The Practice Log

The next section of this tutorial will cover the practice log, which allows students to record how much practice they have done and on what days.

Again, to access the practice log, you must go to the left hand pane and select Practice Log. At the top of the page, we get a quick overview of how much practice has been logged in the past 30 days. To log practice, you can either start a time, or add time manually. When you manually add practice time, you can record the date and how long you practiced.

Other options include adding notes and attachments to detail any issues or achievements that may have occurred in the practice session. You also have an option to email these details to the teacher with a tick box at the bottom of the page.

Your Attendance

To gauge a better understanding of your attendance, go to the left hand pane and click Attendance & Notes. In attendance, the page will show you your average attendance since beginning your music lessons.

Your attendance can be reported from the last three months or more. This section of my music staff also shows you your previous lessons and the practice notes and attachments you were assigned.

To view your notes, click on the notes button. This gives you a view of the attendance details in and the practice notes that were assigned.

You can also create a report of your lesson attendance which shows the dates, times and notes of your lesson. These are created and the report is downloaded straight to the computer. Again this report can differ depending on the time range that you select.
